Cabinet refacing cost for a typical kitchen runs about $4,000 to $13,000, according to Block Renovation (2026). HomeAdvisor (June 2026) puts the average at $7,230, and Fixr (January 2026) puts it at $8,250. Per linear foot, plan on roughly $150 to $450 (HomeGuide, 2023).
That is a wide range, so this guide breaks it down. You will see the kitchen cabinet refacing cost per linear foot, per door, and for a 10x10 kitchen. You will also see what the price includes, what raises it, and when refacing is not worth it.
Still deciding between refacing, painting, and new cabinets? Our cabinet refacing vs replacing guide handles that comparison. This page is the price guide. For the whole room, see how much a kitchen remodel costs in Vancouver, WA.
Published ranges for a full kitchen run from about $3,000 to $13,500, and most cluster near $4,000 to $13,000 (Block Renovation, 2026; HomeGuide, 2023; Fixr, January 2026).
Per linear foot, expect about $150 to $450 (HomeGuide, 2023; HomeAdvisor, June 2026). Material is the biggest driver.
A 10x10 kitchen has about 20 linear feet. Our arithmetic on HomeGuide (2023) gives about $3,000 to $9,900, and Captivating Cabinets (October 2026) lists $4,500 to $13,000.
Per door, Fixr (January 2026) says $435 on average. Block Renovation (2026) says $200 to $300 when bundled into a full project.
Refacing keeps your boxes and layout. If the boxes are damaged or you want a new layout, your money is better spent elsewhere.

No single number fits every kitchen. This table shows what each source we checked says. Dates matter, so we list them.
Why do the numbers differ? Sources use different samples, years, and scopes. Block Renovation (2026) says soft-close hinges, lighting, glass inserts, crown molding, and pull-out organizers are priced outside its base number. HomeGuide (2023) notes that some contractors leave handles and pulls out of estimates. Two quotes can look far apart for that reason alone.
Labor is the biggest piece of the bill. Fixr (January 2026) and HomeGuide (2023) both put labor at 50% to 70% of the total.
Contractors often quote by the linear foot. To find yours, measure the bottom length of each cabinet run from end to end and add the runs together. HomeBlue (2022) suggests adding 1 to 2 feet for each corner.
HomeGuide (2023) and HomeAdvisor (June 2026) both list $150 to $450 per linear foot, and Fixr (January 2026) puts the average at $275. One catch is the unit. HomeGuide (2023) and Fixr (January 2026) list material rates per linear foot, while HomeAdvisor (June 2026) lists the same material ranges per square foot. Always ask which unit a quote uses.
Laminate and thermofoil cost the least. Solid wood costs the most. Block Renovation (2026) says real-wood veneer adds $1,500 to $3,000 to a full kitchen project compared with laminate.
Bigger kitchens have more cabinet faces to replace. Sources group kitchens in different ways, so this table lists each source's own bands.
Angi's size table (March 2026) does not label itself as local, so treat it as a sample. Bob Vila (May 2024) says a full-size kitchen of about 30 linear feet runs $7,000 to $12,000.
A 10x10 kitchen is the industry's standard yardstick. Captivating Cabinets (2026) describes it as two walls with about 20 linear feet of cabinets. HomeGuide (2023) says 20 to 22 linear feet. Multiply that by the per-foot rates and you get a range.
The middle estimates in the table, from Fixr (January 2026) and Angi (March 2026), land between about $3,000 and $6,900 (rounded). The top end, from Bob Vila (May 2024) and Captivating Cabinets (October 2026), reaches $13,000 to $15,000. The low end fits simple laminate. The high end fits wood veneer or solid wood. None of these is a quote.
Some contractors price by the door instead. Fixr (January 2026) says the average is $435 per door. Block Renovation (2026) says most projects price per opening, at roughly $200 to $300 per door when bundled into a full project.
Why the gap? The sources do not say what each door includes, so treat both as ballparks. HomeBlue (2022) gives $130 to $190 per door for Vancouver, WA, and counts a drawer as half a door. That page is from 2022 and names no sample size.
Here is a rough check. Fresh Faced Cabinets (October 2026) describes a typical suburban home as having 25 to 40 doors and drawers. At Block Renovation's (2026) $200 to $300 per door, that is $5,000 to $12,000. This is our arithmetic. It counts every drawer as a full door, so it runs high.
Ask every contractor what counts as a door. Ask whether drawer fronts, end panels, and hardware sit inside the per-door price.
Refacing keeps your cabinet boxes and layout and changes the visible parts. Block Renovation (2026) lists a typical scope like this:
New doors and drawer fronts in the style and finish you choose
New veneer or laminate on the face frames and exposed ends
New hinges and slides
Updated pulls and knobs
Optional add-ons
The boxes, the layout, and the interior dimensions stay. So do usually the countertops and the floor (Block Renovation, 2026). The Home Depot's refacing service page (checked October 2026) lists new doors, drawer fronts, hardware, hinges, and matching veneer as included. It lists soft-close hinges, lighting, and molding as options.
Installation is quick. Block Renovation (2026) says refacing typically wraps in three to ten days. Fixr (January 2026) says installation takes about three to five days, and the whole process can take up to about three weeks once measuring and ordering are included.
Laminate and thermofoil are the budget picks. Fixr (January 2026) calls laminate the least durable option. It says wood veneer can separate over time and cannot be refinished, and that solid wood is the most durable and can be refinished. Block Renovation (2026) says thermofoil seams can lift near heat sources.
HomeGuide (2023) says solid wood veneer costs 2 to 4 times more than laminate.
Door style changes the price too. Block Renovation (2026) says inset doors typically run 25 to 40 percent more than overlay shaker doors. New drawer fronts are part of a standard refacing job. Replacing the drawer boxes is an upgrade. Fresh Faced Cabinets (October 2026) lists birch dovetail replacement drawers at $110 to $130 each.
Hardware is its own line item. HomeGuide (2023) puts it at $6 to $60 per piece with installation. Bob Vila (May 2024) lists handles at $1 to $100 each and hinges at $1 to $25 each. Block Renovation (2026) puts new pulls, knobs, and hinges at $200 to $800 in parts.
Soft-close costs extra. Bob Vila (May 2024) advises skipping it because it adds "hundreds of dollars" and gives no exact figure. Fixr (January 2026) also says soft-close hinges and high-end pulls can raise the total.
Under-cabinet lighting: $200 to $300 per light (HomeAdvisor, June 2026)
Crown molding: $700 to $2,100 (HomeAdvisor, June 2026)
Crown and under-cabinet molding: $750 to $1,500 (Fresh Faced Cabinets, October 2026)
Pull-out trays: $70 to $80 each (Fresh Faced Cabinets, October 2026)
Soft-close trash pull-out, installed: about $300 (Fresh Faced Cabinets, October 2026)
Older kitchens cost more to prep. Block Renovation (2026) says to plan for $500 to $2,000 in pre-work on most kitchens older than 15 years. HomeAdvisor (June 2026) says tight corners and cramped galley kitchens raise labor fees. Block Renovation (2026) also says coastal metro labor runs 30 to 50 percent higher than the Midwest or inland South.
Often, yes, when the boxes are in good shape. HomeAdvisor (June 2026) says refacing is 30% to 50% less expensive than replacing. Fixr (January 2026) says it is almost always cheaper to reface than to replace.
The ranges can overlap, though. Captivating Cabinets (October 2026) lists professional refacing for a 10x10 kitchen at $4,500 to $13,000, and quality ready-to-assemble or value-brand replacement at $4,000 to $11,000 installed. Our cabinet refacing vs replacing guide compares both routes in detail.
On resale, the Zonda 2025 Cost vs. Value report (released September 18, 2025) lists a midrange minor kitchen remodel at an average job cost of $28,458 and an average resale value of $32,141, or 112.9 percent of cost recouped. That project keeps the cabinet boxes and replaces the fronts. Block Renovation describes it as refacing cabinets, updating countertops, swapping a sink and faucet, and refreshing appliances. It is not a refacing-only number, so use it as a guide, not a promise.
The boxes are damaged. Block Renovation (2026) says that when boxes fail inspection, from water damage, racking, or crumbling particleboard, "refacing is throwing money at a structural problem." Fixr (January 2026) also warns against refacing structurally unsound or moisture-damaged cabinets.
You want a new layout. Fixr (January 2026) says refacing will not let you change your kitchen's layout. Block Renovation (2026) says it does not fix appliance changes that affect cabinet sizing.
The boxes are cheap particleboard near the end of their life. Block Renovation (2026) says refacing then "buys five more years of beautiful doors on dying boxes."
You are replacing counters, floors, and appliances anyway. Block Renovation (2026) says replacement makes more sense when those change at the same time.
The refacing quote lands close to new cabinets. Ask for both prices. Captivating Cabinets (October 2026) shows how much the two ranges can overlap.
We found no Vancouver, WA price study from a government or industry body, so local numbers come from cost sites. Angi's Portland, OR page (March 2026) lists an average of $7,138 and a range of $5,301 to $9,435. Angi (March 2026) also lists $148 to $447 per linear foot. HomeBlue's Vancouver, WA page (2022) lists $140 to $260 per linear foot, but it is four years old and names no sample size.
Both local pages overlap the national figures from HomeAdvisor (June 2026) and Fixr (January 2026) in the tables above. Quotes still vary with the shop and the scope.
Our wet climate matters before you spend. National Weather Service normals for Vancouver Pearson Airport show about 37.5 inches of precipitation a year, and about 83 percent of it falls from October through April (our arithmetic from the NWS monthly normals). Rain outside does not soak a sink base, but steam and slow leaks do. Check the boxes first, and see the box checklist in our refacing vs replacing guide.
Homes in Vancouver, Camas, Ridgefield, Felida, Salmon Creek, Hazel Dell, and Cascade Park span many decades, so check your year built. If your home was built before 1978, ask about lead-safe work. The EPA (June 2026) says anyone paid to perform work that disturbs paint in housing built before 1978 must be certified. Removing painted doors and sanding old finishes can disturb paint. Read the EPA's lead-safe program page to learn what to expect from any contractor.
Use this list to compare quotes on equal terms.
Measure your linear feet. Add the bottom length of each cabinet run, plus 1 to 2 feet per corner (HomeBlue, 2022).
Count doors and drawer fronts. Ask how the contractor counts drawers.
Pick the material first. Ask for laminate, thermofoil, and wood veneer prices side by side.
Ask what is included. Check hinges, slides, pulls, end panels, toe kick, molding, delivery, haul-away, and lead-safe work.
Ask for the unit. Is the price per linear foot, per door, or one lump sum?
Have the boxes checked. Ask the contractor to look at the sink base and the dishwasher side before you sign.
Get the timeline and warranty in writing. Block Renovation (2026) says refacing typically takes three to ten days.
Compare at least two quotes. If your boxes are old, price new cabinets too.

Published averages run from about $7,100 to $8,300 for a kitchen, per Angi (March 2026) and Fixr (January 2026). HomeAdvisor (June 2026) says $7,230, Angi's Portland, OR page (March 2026) says $7,138, and Fixr (January 2026) says $8,250. Block Renovation (2026) gives a typical range of $4,000 to $13,000.
HomeGuide (2023) and HomeAdvisor (June 2026) both list $150 to $450 per linear foot. Fixr (January 2026) puts the average at $275. Laminate and thermofoil sit at the low end, and solid wood sits at the high end.
A 10x10 kitchen has about 20 to 22 linear feet of cabinets (HomeGuide, 2023). At HomeGuide's (2023) $150 to $450 per linear foot, that works out to about $3,000 to $9,900, our arithmetic. Captivating Cabinets (October 2026) lists $4,500 to $13,000 for professional refacing of a 10x10 kitchen.
Fixr (January 2026) says the average is $435 per door. Block Renovation (2026) says roughly $200 to $300 per door when bundled into a full project. Ask each contractor what counts as a door, since some count a drawer as half a door (HomeBlue, 2022).
It is worth it when the boxes are dry, solid, and you like your layout. HomeAdvisor (June 2026) says refacing is 30% to 50% less expensive than replacing. It is not worth it for damaged boxes or a new layout, because refacing keeps both.
We found no official local price study. Angi's Portland, OR page (March 2026) lists an average of $7,138 and $148 to $447 per linear foot. HomeBlue's Vancouver, WA page (2022) lists $140 to $260 per linear foot. Use these as rough guides and get a written quote for your kitchen.
It depends on the quote. Block Renovation (2026) says soft-close hinges, under-cabinet lighting, glass inserts, crown molding, and pull-out organizers are priced outside its base number. HomeGuide (2023) notes some contractors leave handles and pulls out of estimates. Always ask for an itemized list.
